Retail Narrative scorecard and recommended actions

By Jim Lewis, Founder and CEO, Enhanced Retail Solutions

23 years ago, with a Best Buy credit card, I bought the most advanced PC and a CD-ROM of Microsoft Excel. With that and the naiveté of someone who knew nothing about running a business, ERS was born. 23 years later, the hardware is more sophisticated but I’m not sure about the naivete. I wouldn’t change it for the world.

If you google what the traditional gift for a 23rd anniversary is, you’ll get several answers but the most common was a silver plate. I began to think, who produced this list of appropriate gifts and when was it made? What made these people an authority on gift giving and was it based on feedback from people who were married that long, less, or more? Who knows?

The key is that it was a reward of sorts- you made it this far, and you should be rewarded. The value of the silver plate can mean different things to different people. If you already have 10 silver plates another one isn’t that special. If you always wanted a silver plate but could never afford one, you are going to feel special when you get it.

Right Place, Right Time

It all depends on the circumstances where you are at that time. There will always be ups and downs, but right now, ERS is at the right place at the right time. After years of retooling our solutions to be smarter, the AI revolution is taking hold. Investments in our infrastructure are paying off. And we have the best team in our space.

Our business begins and ends with people. Our team is our #1 asset. Everyone at ERS has worked extremely hard to provide our clients with value, knowledge, and new ways of doing things that exceed their expectations. I am extremely thankful and proud of our team and overseas partners who have enabled us to come this far. We are not a large company, which makes it even more amazing to see how big an impact just a few people can have.

I am extremely excited about our future and have enjoyed seeing how the business has transformed through the years. Thanks again to our team, partners, clients and followers that have made ERS a success.
